Our Most Popular Running Routes
HRC - Loop With The Group II
After a short announcement from our chief runner the group will typically start out at the trail head with an easy two miles to the Stop 30 water drop. It gives us time to warm up and catch up with other runners that may not be your pace. It is flat and easy, perfect for beginners who are not sure how far they would like to take it and want to stay close to the car. Once there l we head out on a course decided on earlier if you are in training or random.
HRC Half(Also known as Boomers Half)(13.5
miles)
This course represents some of the best of Hendersonville running, with the exception of miles 3-6 the course is set in Rural Hendersonville, rolling hills, beautiful estates, and very little traffic. It has become a staple of our long and medium runs. We place water at mile 7
HRC Island Drive (3 - 7.25
Miles)

The neighborhood run features rolling hills that are not very challenging. It runs through the Drakes Creek park past some of the lake front properties in the Indian Lake subdivision, past the High, Middle and Elementary Schools Very little traffic. It is a terrific early morning weekend run. If you are from out of town it is a great way to see residential side of old Hendersonville.
Hendersonville 10K
(Memorial Day Race)

The Annual Memorial Day Hendersonville 10k has a bit of everything - you start by shooting up route 31 to the street where the YMCA is located. Turn left and you follow that road back to Indian lake. Of course everything in Hendersonville features hills, this is a pleasant run that can easily be switched up a bit once you hit Sandersville Road. The race on the other hand - save some for the downhill on the last 5k.
HRC BestBuy & Back (9.5
miler)

If you like to show off your running skills this is for you. An easy and fast straight up and back on route 31. Try to avoid stopping at Starbucks on the way, you'll only get 1 mile in. Best done early in the morning before there is too much traffic.
Frostbite 5K

Annual December 5k - deceptively hard course, with plenty of hills. Run by beautiful lake front homes and the Trinity Church with all of its lights. Keep it under control for the first 1.5 miles and you should finish fine.
HRC
Moss Write (10 - 17 Miler) - (Similar to Striders
Goodlettsville 10) add Happy Hollow Switchback for the additional miles

Typically done on an off night to pick up 10 miles, but often used for long hot runs in the summertime. Lots of hills, lots of shade, and switchbacks so there is plenty of water. Beautiful trek, very few cars and we usually lose only one runner a year to the wild pack of dogs at mile 5(ITs A Joke!). Usually spontaneously planned long runs, check the calendar and message board for this.
HRC Full (26 miler) -
Randy's running buffet

This features the best of all the runs combined (or worst depending on your mood that day). It has the a bit of "BestBuy", "MossWrite", Hville10k, HRCHalf, and of course the "Loop With The Group" - a virtual buffet of HRC running routes all in one. One of the nice things about this run is that there are plenty of opportunities to shave a few miles off and not miss water stops, or deal with heavy traffic.
Saundersville Extension/Library Trail (6 miles)

Our classic beginners route, close to the park, easy very little traffic, a switchback so you can see runners coming and going. It is the beginning part of the HRC Half run so the group starts out together.
Percy
Warner (11miles per loop)

This is the Mecca for Tennessee runners. We are truly blessed to have this beautiful park to run in. Well worth the outings we plan out there. A tailgate typically follows. You will see hundreds of other runners weaving their way through the park at all paces and directions. Million Dollar views at every turn. Followed up by a loop around Belle Meade to check out all of the dumps. We usually have one of these scheduled as a fun run or part of training with the Striders. Striders also have a Kroger (Franklin) to Kroger (BelleMeade) 21 mile run that utilizes the park - we highly recommend.
Indian Lake (15 miles)

This is an extension to the Island Drive run, just keeps weaving deeper into the neighborhoods Indian Lake Peninsula, be careful to stay with the group though it is easy to get lost in the maze of streets. Quiet and shaded.
Y5 at 5 and Noon (5 miles)

A small group of runners meet at the YMCA at 5AM MWF to run this 5 miles to start their days. I on the other hand choose to sleep in and run the route with the nooners, when they decide to run. So if you show up and they are not their within 5 minutes of the time take off. It follows almost the same route as the frostbite. The YMCA a sponsor of ours will let you use the bathroom and grab some water. If you are from out of town staying at the Holiday Inn Express this is a perfect jaunt. BTW turning right at Caudill instead of left will take you by Johnny Cash's old estate but add a mile.
HRC Saunders Ferry Park Yasso's

A beautiful park with breathtaking lake views, features a .78 mile loop. Park up by the bathrooms and start by the sidewalk leading to them. Follow that around to the stop sign and you have your Yasso. At first you'll be able to jog to the start again in plenty of time for the next Yasso's start, but by the end it will be all you have. Enjoy
